when i came back to china and surfed on the internet, i frequently saw this name: 木子美. who is she? later i got to knew that she was an editor of a tabloid in guangzhaou, 25 years old, female. how come she has become a well known figure among the netizens in china?

i explored more. i came to know that she became famous because of her blog... they call 博客 in chinese, direct sound translation from blog. what makes her blog so popular? because she wrote about her sex life and numerous one-night-stands in her blog. some time in august she wrote about an affair with a famous singer, and quoted the singer's real name. from then on, the number of people clicked on her blog link skyrocketed. and a wide debate over the whole issue come into shape.

mu zi mei has shut down her blog, but she allowed another website to publish the entries on the forum there. wellz i went to visit there, and read a bit. i want to know what it is like and don't want to comment until i've seen it with my very own eyes

if dated 5 years back, mu zi mei will be disgusted by all the society, at least on the surface, or prosecuted by the police. but as china has become more open and tolerant, nowadays we respect her own way of life as long as it does not harm the society, and the crux of debate also shifted somehow.

cctv managed an interview with muzimei. and they also interviewed with several other scholars. of course they had opposite views.

an internet survey shows that 90% people thought muzimei put up her sex life blog so as to become famous.

however, the majority of the respect her lifestyle.

so, they opinion: u can go on with ur life, u can still write ur diary, but no need to let everyone know.

muzimei's opinion: my blog is my own place, i can write anything on it. i didn't wish u to visit and read, but u came, voluntarily. it's up to u to read, but u chose to read.

the problem: the blog, when published on internet, is it considered publicised or still privacy?

a further question: when the blog harms some one (in this case the famous singer), is it the blogger's responsibility or the publisher's (the this case the website providing service for blogging)?

as a blogger myself, i couldn't find a satisfactory answer to either quesitons. if talked about my own blog, it is viewed by a small group of people whom i know, the group is limited, so it can be considered as a privacy to a certain extent. however, r there any other people reading also? am i harming some one unconsciously? what's the chance of a total stranger come to my blog, then finds it interesting and advertise it to his or her friends? in muzimei's case at last even she use alias for the men who had an affair with her, other readers could guess out who the men is.

so, is there any one hiding in the dark corner and giggling for his or her not-known existence?

i've seen people locking up their blog for a true limited readership whom them know and could identify. maybe that's the way to avoid the 'unconscious publication of privacy'. it's like locking up the door before u leave the house, while i leave the door wide open.

am i going to lock the door?

no

coz the moment i started to blog, i subconsciously wanted it to be seen.

i'm neither using it for a soly private place to reflect, nor a sanctury for me to interact with my friends.

but i'm still subconsciously writig out my true feelings.

or r they true after all?

or r they tools to win sympathy or empathy among my friends?

i hope they are true.

anywayz, i have to apologize to those i unconsciously hurt in my precious entries, and those i may unconsciously hurt in the future one.

i'm still blurrr....
